The library's interactive auto repair shop features a standalone, lift-mounted car and playful facets of a real-life auto shop, including a shop tool box and service desk. Kids can trigger a variety of sound effects when they get under the hood to add fluids (glug-glug), change the air filter, and check the battery and oil level. Other fun features include a creeper for rolling under the vehicle to replace the muffler and tailpipe, lug nuts and a realistic-sounding pneumatic drill for changing the tires, and interchangeable vanity plates and bumper stickers.
The children’s auto shop is driving off into the sunset effective June 30, and will be replaced by a fresh new play space for kids: Plants & Pollinators, sponsored by Tagawa Gardens. The new play area will open in August.
