Website Privacy
Statement

At Douglas County Libraries (DCL) we are committed to protecting your privacy. We collect information from visitors to gain insight into the way our website is used, customize your experience and target appropriate messages. We take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We use industry-standard security protocols and procedures to safeguard your information.
Information We Collect
When you visit our website, we use Google Analytics to collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, time zone, search queries and IP addresses assigned to your service provider. Additionally, as you browse our website, we collect information about the individual web pages you view, what websites or search terms referred you to our website and information about how you interact with our content. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Third-party Services
DCL works with third-party vendors to provide services such as online learning, digital collections, streaming media content, library event registration, articles, magazines and more. When you leave the library website, your interaction with these vendors is governed by their privacy policies. Some of these vendors may collect and share information you provide to them or require you to create a personal account to use their services.
Some pages on our website use embedded third-party web applications from Jotform, Eventbrite, Zendesk and YouTube to enhance your experience or provide functionality such as ticket and product sales, help and support, registration, feedback, user account access and more. These embedded applications are independent of the hosted web page and may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites. We do not have access to or control over these cookies or tracking technologies. We encourage you to review the Jotform, Eventbrite and Google/YouTube privacy policies.
Library Catalog
Our online catalog is provided by BiblioCommons. Upon registration, you agree to their privacy policies as part of the BiblioCommons US Terms of Use.
Facebook Pixel
Our use of the Facebook Pixel allows for tracking after you have clicked on a Facebook ad and are directed to our website. This enables us to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. The data collected in this way is anonymous to us—however, this data is stored and processed by Facebook. Facebook may link this information to your Facebook account and also use it for its own promotional purposes, in accordance with Facebook's Data Usage Policy.
Email Newsletter
To provide a better experience and improve our newsletter content, we may track your activity from our newsletter to our website, including which pages you visit and how long you spend on each page. This information is collected using cookies and similar technologies. We use this information to understand our customers’ interests and preferences and tailor our newsletter content accordingly.
